Welcoming message

It is my pleasure to invite you and members of your editorial team to participate in the coming APAME convention 2012 which will be held in University Malaya of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. APAME was formed in 2009 to support and promote medical journalism in the Asia Pacific region by fostering networking, education, discussion and exchange of information and knowledge. There are very few meeting and training opportunities for editors, authors, researchers, librarians and publishers of academic medical journals in this part of the world due to lack of resources and geographical limitations. In addition to updating our knowledge, we hope that this convention can also serve as a platform for us to meet up and share our experiences or problems. This will also be a good place to meet with publishers and professional organizations that provide technical supports for publication of medical and scientific journals.

During this convention, we will hold the biannual General Assembly for members of APAME, and General Meeting for the Association of Malaysian Medical Journal Editors (AMMJE). We will also organize a few workshops that will benefit editors, reviewers and authors on specific aspects of scientific publication. 31st August happened to be the national day of Malaysia, so for those coming from overseas you will be greeted with flag salutation and atmosphere of celebration throughout the whole nation.
